What is the best way to figure out how much food I need?:
Well, First you need to know about how many people will be attending your party. Round-up to avoid having to little. To do this, count how many adults will be attending your party. Then count the number of children, from three(3) to twelve(12) years old and count them as one half each. For example, if you have six(6) children, you would make them equivalent to 3 adults. Now you are ready to determine how many people (counted in adults) will be attending your party.

How much food should I order?:
On the average, you need about three(3) half dishes to feed every 10 adults, plus a dessert item. You can mix this up however you like and pro-rate it for more or less people. For example, if you are expecting 20 people, you probably want about six(6) half dishes, three(3) full size dishes, or any combination inbetween.

What type of food should I order?:
Usually, when people eat at a catered event, they follow a simple pattern. For a first course they will have an appetizer like salad or potato crockets. A second course will most likely consist of a pasta dish like spaghetti, or ravioli. Next, a third course is usually the main course like chicken, meat or fish. Finally, most people will have dessert if it is offered like cheescake or canolis. It is also a good idea to have things that people can snack on like chips and pretzels. Finally, if your ordering more then one of any type of main course or pasta, try to be diverse. If you order two items, and both of them are chicken, their may be people that don't like chicken and who will feel left out.

These suggestions are just suggestions, their is no hard and fast rule for catering. The best overall idea is to figure out what type of food you want and combine it with the approximate amount of food you need, and use that as a starting point. To actually place in order however, we ask that you come down to the store in person so we can confirm your order. Mamma Gina's also requires a 50% deposit on all catering orders.
